Meet Our Artists

Steve likes painting, weaving and stickers. He also likes to make big puddles of Elmer's glue and put shredded paper and other fun things in his glue puddles. Steve likes pistachios, big hugs, and the outdoors.

Lindsay likes making cards and dog toys. She is open to trying new things. Lindsay

works as a caregiver and is looking forward to supporting our artists.

Cheryl likes coloring and cross stitching. She would like to learn crochet and is up for

whatever crafts come along!

Barb is great at finding ideas using the resources we already have, and finding

treasures at the dollar store. She helps us stay organized and has an excellent sense

of humor.

Nicole likes everything. She always has a smile and enjoys trying new things.

Joel likes painting with black paint. He is open to trying an odd craft. In addition to

loving the color black, Joel likes Great Danes.

Opal likes basket weaving, india ink on cards and beading. She would like to learn different basket weaving. Opal is Native American (Alaska Native) HAIDA and Norwegian. Born in Hydaburg, Alaska on Prince of Wales Island.

Judy likes to crochet, weave and sew. She would like to learn to rock paint and is interested in learning some seasonal crafts. Judy likes bright colors and creative ideas.

Tracey likes to do easy crafts. She has enjoyed making dog toys and painting rocks

with Des Moines Open Door Arts. She is up for trying anything “on the easier side.”

Mark expresses his creativity in woodworking. He just bought a lathe and is headed for some artistic adventures with it. He spends his time at DMODA helping others.

Valentine brought a woodcarving project and worked on making spoons and a bowl. He is a talented artist and works professionally with wood and furniture.

Cerilda likes to draw and color. She likes rock painting, copying recipes from cookbooks and baking. She is excited to learn more!
